About Us

Zen Life was born from a simple belief: skincare and daily living should feel slower, calmer, and more connected to nature.

Our inspiration comes from Guangxi in Southern China, a region known for its lush mountains, warm climate, and extraordinary botanical diversity. It is one of China’s important growing regions for many of the plants that inspire our products, including osmanthus, jasmine, centella asiatica, mugwort, pomelo leaves, and golden camellia.

These botanicals have been part of local life for generations — used in bathing rituals, herbal care, fragrance, tea culture, and everyday wellness. Growing up surrounded by these plants gave us a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of traditional botanical rituals.

Zen Life brings this heritage into modern life through a slower approach to skincare and self-care.

We create and curate botanical soaps, incense, skincare rituals, and objects for mindful living, with a focus on simple ingredients, sensory experience, and intentional daily routines.

For us, skincare is not about rushing toward perfection. It is about creating a moment to cleanse, breathe, rest, and reconnect with yourself.

From the scent of osmanthus in autumn, to jasmine blooming in the evening, to mugwort and camellia long valued in traditional Chinese households, every Zen Life product is inspired by the landscapes and botanical traditions of our home.

Our goal is to share these local treasures with the world in a thoughtful, contemporary way — preserving their character while reimagining them for modern slow living.

Zen Life is more than skincare. It is a botanical lifestyle rooted in Southern China and created for a slower, more peaceful everyday life.

Slow Skin. Slow Rituals. Zen Life.

Founder Story

Born in Guilin, Guangxi, and raised with Yao heritage, the founder of Zen Life grew up surrounded by generations of traditional botanical rituals. In Yao communities, natural ingredients have long been part of everyday self-care—from washing hair with tea seed cake powder to soaking in aromatic herbal baths made with mountain plants, roots, and leaves.

The Yao people are especially known for their remarkable long-hair traditions. In parts of Guilin, these traditions have even gained international recognition, with women maintaining exceptionally long, healthy-looking hair through routines passed down from generation to generation. Growing up with these customs gave the founder a deep appreciation for simple, plant-based rituals for hair, body, and everyday wellbeing.

Guilin itself is rich in botanicals. The founder’s grandfather planted hundreds of sweet osmanthus trees, filling the family’s surroundings with the soft, golden fragrance of Gui Hua — sweet osmanthus, one of Guangxi’s most beloved flowers. The region is also an important ginger-growing area, where ginger has traditionally been used in household rituals such as hair washing and warm foot soaks.

Of all these scents and traditions, sweet osmanthus has always been the founder’s favorite.

Zen Life was created from a desire to bring these memories, ingredients, and quiet rituals into modern life. Through botanical hair washes, herbal bath soaks, incense, handmade soaps, and other simple self-care products, the founder hopes to share a small piece of Guangxi and Yao culture with people around the world.

The idea is simple: take a little time, slow down, breathe deeply, and let nature become part of your daily ritual.
